The Beauty of Trees

Oak tree at Ojai City Hall here in Ojai.

This was so beautiful we had to share (from Geometry in Nature by Alex Calver):

Trees are not just tall woody plants that provide shade and oxygen. They are magnificent, complex organisms that have been around for millions of years, shaping and sustaining life on our planet. Trees are truly remarkable in many ways, but one fact that often goes overlooked is that we share 50% of our DNA with them.

This shared genetic code is a testament to the deep interconnection between humans and trees. It means that we are not so different from them, and that we have much to learn from them. Trees are masters of resilience, adaptation, and cooperation. They can survive for centuries, even millennia, and thrive in the harshest of environments. They have developed intricate systems of communication and mutual support, allowing them to share resources, defend against predators and even heal their wounded

The beauty of trees is not just their physical appearance, but in their essence. They embody the balance and harmony of nature, and remind us of our own place in the world. They inspire us to be better stewards of the earth and to work towards a more sustainable and just future.

So next time you walk among the trees, take a moment to appreciate their beauty and their wisdom, Remember that we are part of the same family, and our fates are intertwined. Let the trees teach you their lessons, and let them inspire you to a better version of yourself.
